Since 1971, Majors Records has provided Staten Islanders with everything to satisfy their musical desires, carrying a full range of music and movies in all formats. In 1982, Majors Records became the first retailer to sell compact discs ("CDs") on Staten Island. Soon thereafter, the Big Box stores and other records stores followed. but all of the other independent record stores have closed, and beginning in June 2018, the Big Box stores such as Best Buy have announced they will no longer be selling CDs. But do not worry. Majors will continue to carry the most extensive selection of CDs anywhere, and will be the only store on Staten Island where you can purchase your favorite CDs. Of course, we also carry an extensive inventory of vinyl records, DVDs and Blu-Ray movies, and much more. And if for some reason you cannot find what you're looking for, we will order it for you and have it within 48 hours.

Yes, it's true. You can download music, or even order it online. But nothing can duplicate the experience of walking through the aisles of a real record store, flipping through endless racks of vinyl albums and CDs of every genre of music, new and old, touching and observing the artwork on the covers, and discussing music with other patrons and our dedicated staff. Independent record stores like Majors are like a casino where you put down your money and you always win. You will discover gems you forgot about or never knew, meet people more passionate than you about music, and feel at home at a place you may have never been to before.
